2014 - 100 YEARS
The 100th anniversary of the start of the "war to end all wars" is on Monday 4th August.
On the evening the 4th we will start with a late meal in The Bell for those who wish.
We will then assemble outside the school for distribution of lanterns before walking to the church, led by members of the army cadets Corps of Drums in time for a service.
Those that do not want to walk down the lane, please meet at the church for 10.30.
The service will commence at 10.30.
Wreaths will be laid on behalf of the people of Kent and also by relatives of some of those named on the memorial. The service will end at 11.00pm with a reading of the declaration of war made at that hour in 1914.
The memorial booklet is now available from Issy Whatrup the organist for a £1 donation to the Royal British Legion. There is now an extra page which those who bought a copy on 28th and 29th June can get from Issy.
Terrors are our under 5s though they are welcome to bring the rest of the family.
