There is room for everyone at St Peter's
1866/67 TO 2016/17 150 YEARS
A YEAR OF CELEBRATION
St Peter's was extensively rebuilt between 1865 and 1867. The outside seems to have been finished by 1866 (the date on the downpipes) and the inside by 1867 (the date on the font.) The rebuilding was carried out at the "sole expense" of the vicar's father, (so maybe "rich Dad" should be added to the attributes of the next vicar!), who is commemorated on a plaque in the church. Thomas Hermitage Day also paid for the school and the vicarage (demolished in the 60s).
There will be a programme of activities, starting at the 2016 Summer Fete and ending at the 2017 Summer Fete, with, subject to availability of a Bishop (!) a suitably celebratory service and a Flower Festival.
Watch our Facebook page or pop along to church for a copy of the Notices and/or our monthly magazine, Spiral, for more news.
