Directions to St Peter’s

From London or the Coast

Take the M2 to Junction 4, Gillingham.  There is only one exit, the A278 towards Gillingham.

Follow the A278 to the first roundabout, (beware the 50mph limit).  Turn right (Wigmore).  You will immediately come to a mini-roundabout where you again turn right.

Follow the road over the next mini-roundabout.  You will then come to two mini-roundabouts together.  Turn right at the first one (Bredhurst) under the main road bridge.

Over the motorway bridge into the village.  Please observe the speed limit.  Look out for the school on your left and the Bell pub on the right, (excellent food, good beer and friendly staff – highly recommended by the Curate).  Turn left into Hurstwood Road immediately after the school and opposite the pub.

Follow Hurstwood road past the village hall and into the single-track section.  It looks like it’s going to Peter (sorry) out but you will then find yourself at the car park.

Show me a map.

From Medway Towns

I suggest you take the A278 towards the M2 and turn left at the Sava-Centre (Hempstead Valley) shopping Centre roundabout and then follow the above instructions.  Watch out for the new pedestrian lights just before the roundabout.

From Maidstone

The best route is to come up Bluebell Hill, the A229, and take the M2 at Junction 3 coast-bound
and exit at Junction 4.  Then follow the directions above for travel from London or the coast.

If coming up Detling Hill (A249), do NOT take the road signposted Bredhurst at the top of the hill!  You will get well and truly lost.  Go on to the M2 at Junction 5 and take the London bound carriageway to Junction 4 (note: the M2/A249 junction is topsy-turvy: you turn right for London).
