St Peter’s Registers

This won’t take very long.  Unless you are looking for a recent record, we don’t have them.
They are held by the County Council or by Medway Council.

If you think we can help please try our Parish Office (01634 231736) but bear in mind that there is a Statutory fee (i.e., laid down by parliament, not us) for conducting a search for you.

We do have a comprehensive list of marked graves in the old churchyard that is now closed to new burials. There are approximately 163 graves in the old churchyard that surrounds St Peter’s Church, Bredhurst, recording some 293 names. Several headstones and memorials have become illegible over time and others are decipherable only in part. Some are missing altogether. A headstone which includes the initials of an infant who died in 1763 is the earliest.  If you would like specific details of a particular family’s known memorials then please e-mail the Curate.  Because this work took so long to compile, we will ask for a £10 (€15 or $20) donation per family set for the information, which we will ask you not to circulate by posting on the internet, e-mail or otherwise.  (This is about half the statutory fee of £19 for a register search).  For a £20 (€30, $40) total donation we will also mail you pictures of all the relevant stones.  We accept donations by PayPal.  The families for which we have one or more memorials are:

Akhurst, Andrews, Apps, Barton, Batchelor, Bennett, Bluett Britcher, Broad, Brooks, Chambers, Chapman, Coachman, Connor, Cooper, Dade, Dale, Dann, Day, Drummond, Dudley, Eldridge, Everest, Finch, Fisher, Franks, Friday, Furminger, Glover, Glover, Godden, Goodhew, Gulvin, Hammond, Hardy, Harris, Hogg, Hyde, Johnson, Landen, Lane, Lewis, Mason, Merrett, Millen, Monday, Morgan, Munn, Naylor, Nichols, Oakes, Payne, Pearce, Pemble, Pepper, Percy, Perrin, Perry, Platt, Prentice, Pye, Rayfield, Read, Simmons, Simpson, Snelling, Stevens, Stevenson, Stewart, Sutton, Terry, Tomsett, Warmington, Wedd, White, Whitehead, Willworthy, Winch, Wise, Wise, Wood, Woodcock,

The following pictures are the record of the registers and other documents deposited with the Maidstone Office.  If anyone understands the payments for hedgehogs, please let us know……………
