Photographs at Weddings

For those getting married at St Peter’s Church Bredhurst

Please hand this letter to your Official Photographer

Dear Photographer,

Re: Marriage of ____________________ and ______________________

On: ____________________________   at St Peter’s Church Bredhurst

You have an important role to play in a wedding.  Not only do you provide an important record and memories of the Wedding Day for the Bride and Groom and their families and friends, but your actions also contribute to the smooth running of the day itself.

You can contribute to the day by bearing a few points in mind:-

1)                 No photographs to be taken in the church during the service.

You are very welcome to take posed photographs both before and after the service.  You may also take photographs during the signing of the Registers and as the bride and groom process out.

2)                 If there is another wedding either immediately before or after your wedding please be aware of timings.

We have 2 hours between weddings, which allows sufficient time for photographs with your co-operation.  Because of the limited amount of parking at the Church and also the 1 track road, we do ask you to be clear of the Church Car-Park at least 20 minutes before the Bride is due to arrive for the next wedding. To find out if there are other weddings that day please phone the Parish Office (01634 231736).

3)                 Please do not take photographs in the New Churchyard (just across the road from the Church).

There may be families and friends visiting the graves, and it is necessary to respect their need to mourn the loss of their loved ones in the peace and tranquillity of the Churchyard.  There are some very good settings for photographs closer to the Church.
If it is raining you may use the inside of the church but please be quick if there is another wedding following on.
If the old churchyard is muddy you may use the area in front of the churchyard gates, but please use this only as a last resort.

Please accept the thanks of those concerned with ensuring the smooth running of this day that is so important in the lives of those concerned.

Some Extra Notes:

I strongly recommend that photographers who have not been to St Peter’s before come and check light-levels, settings, etc. before the service.  Keys can be obtained for access to the church – see the note in the porch window.

There are four popular locations for photographs:

Outside the porch (faces South) but beware the shadows from the trees.

Under the tree at the South East corner of the old churchyard (to your right as you come in)

At the North East corner of the church (in shade at most popular times, which can be helpful)

Under the two yew trees at the North West corner of the church (I’m told that one is a male and one a female and they’ve grown together – rather symbolic)  This is good on an overcast day but the shadows can be harsh on sunny days.
